The Whitworth, one of the UK's leading public art galleries, is looking for an Assistant Curator to join its collections team on a maternity cover basis. You'll support the curatorial work around the gallery's world-renowned textiles and wallpaper holdings, contributing to research, exhibition development, and public engagement with these significant collections.
What you’ll do
- Manage collections access and support curatorial processes for textiles and wallpaper items
- Organise and facilitate study centre visits, research appointments, and collection enquiries
- Contribute to exhibition planning and display development across the rolling programme
- Conduct or support collections research to enhance interpretation and scholarly understanding
- Help deliver public-facing activities and talks related to the collections
Eligibility
- Interest in or experience with museum curatorial or collections work
- Knowledge of or enthusiasm for textiles, wallpapers, or decorative arts
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage visitor and researcher access
- Ability to work collaboratively within a gallery team environment
