The University of Aberdeen's Institute of Medical Science is recruiting a Research Assistant to join Dr Bin Hu's laboratory. You will contribute to chromosome biology research, focusing on cohesin structure and function. The role involves collaborative work with Aberdeen-based research groups and partners at Oxford to advance understanding of cohesin in ways that may inform drug discovery approaches.
What you’ll do
- Conduct structure-function analysis of cohesin proteins and their regulatory partners
- Apply biochemical and molecular biological techniques to map protein interaction surfaces
- Collaborate with chromosome biology researchers across Aberdeen's institutes
- Liaise with colleagues at Oxford to address fundamental research questions
- Contribute intellectual input to experimental design and interpretation
Eligibility
- Postgraduate degree in cell cycle regulation, chromosome biology, or closely related field
- Demonstrable experience in relevant molecular or cell biology techniques
- Interest in structural analysis and protein-protein interactions
- Ability to work collaboratively within research teams
