Castleton Commodities International is a major global energy and commodities trading firm with infrastructure investment operations. They're building an advanced Data Science platform to strengthen their trading strategy and market insights. This internship offers exposure to real commodity market data across power, gas, and oil sectors whilst developing machine learning forecasting models.
What you’ll do
- Analyse time series data from energy markets to identify supply and demand drivers affecting prices
- Design and develop machine learning models for price forecasting using techniques such as ARIMA, XGBoost, and LSTM networks
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and traders to refine and optimise forecasting solutions
- Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines to support analytics workflows
- Apply statistical methods to enhance existing machine learning systems and explore new approaches
Eligibility
- Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and quantitative analysis
- Interest in time series forecasting and machine learning applications
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and statistical modelling techniques
- Detail-oriented with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment
- Motivated self-starter keen to apply academic knowledge to real commercial problems
