The University of Cambridge's Institute of Metabolic Science seeks a Research Assistant in Bioinformatics to work within their Genomics and Bioinformatics Core. You'll support multiple research groups by developing computational workflows and analysing genomic and multi-omics datasets. The role combines hands-on data analysis with a focus on reproducible science and best practices in research data management.
What you’ll do
- Build and refine bioinformatics workflows for genome sequencing, single-cell analysis, and integrated omics data
- Analyse functional genomics datasets and help researchers interpret results
- Implement FAIR data principles and maintain robust data management standards across projects
- Use version control (Git) and containerisation tools to ensure reproducibility and shareability of analyses
- Provide computational support to researchers within the Metabolic Research Laboratories
Eligibility
- Strong foundation in bioinformatics or computational biology
- Proficiency with programming languages relevant to genomic data analysis
- Familiarity with data management practices and reproducible research principles
- Ability to work collaboratively with research teams across multiple projects
