Wessex Water is a water utility company committed to environmental protection and regulatory compliance. As a Trade Effluent Officer, you'll manage relationships with hundreds of businesses across the southern region, ensuring their industrial wastewater meets legal standards before discharge into the sewer network. This role is essential for protecting both water infrastructure and the wider environment.
What you’ll do
- Oversee regulatory compliance for 200+ businesses discharging industrial wastewater into the sewer network
- Issue trade effluent consents and enforce compliance under the Water Industry Act 1991
- Manage breaches and investigate non-compliance across diverse industrial sectors
- Build and maintain relationships with external companies to support regulatory standards
- Attend Wessex Water headquarters in Bath one day per week
Eligibility
- Interest in environmental protection and water regulation
- Ability to manage relationships with multiple business stakeholders
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly the Water Industry Act 1991 (or willingness to develop this knowledge)
- Available to travel to Bath headquarters weekly and across the Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire region
