Aston University is recruiting a Research Assistant for a funded project investigating the reliability and practical challenges of AI video analytics systems used in public spaces. You'll work with the research team to evaluate how well these systems perform, focusing on false alerts and their impact on human operators.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and document video datasets for analysis and experimentation
- Set up, run and test different AI video anomaly-detection models
- Conduct comparative tests across various models, threshold settings and environmental conditions
- Review and analyse false alert patterns and identify recurring technical issues
- Maintain detailed, reproducible records of all experiments and results
- Help prepare figures, tables, technical reports and research dissemination materials
Eligibility
- Ability to work closely with the Principal Investigator and wider research team
- Competence in preparing technical datasets and documentation
- Experience or familiarity with video analysis tools and AI model testing
- Strong attention to detail for recording and reproducing experimental work
