Beamish Museum
Beamish Museum and Durham Wildlife Trust are offering a paid 8-week placement focused on heritage storytelling and community engagement. You'll work at Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve to explore how visitors connect with the site's natural, cultural and industrial heritage, developing creative ways to share these stories.
What you’ll do
- Research and investigate the reserve's unique heritage stories, from wildlife to industrial history
- Engage with visitors and communities to understand how they connect with the site
- Contribute ideas for interpretation projects such as trails, signage, panels and storytelling materials
- Help develop audience engagement and community outreach initiatives
- Support the planning and development of projects that could enhance the visitor experience long-term
Eligibility
- Interest in heritage, storytelling, community engagement and the natural environment
- Willingness to gain hands-on, practical experience in a cultural and environmental setting
- Open to people of all ages seeking meaningful paid work experience
- Based in or able to work in County Durham
