East Sussex County Council's Adult Social Care & Health department is seeking a Policy Officer Intern to support their policy and strategic development team. In this 6-month fixed-term role, you'll help ensure frontline staff have access to clear, timely policy information whilst researching legislative changes and coordinating feedback across the department to maintain compliance and service quality.
What you’ll do
- Research national policy and legislative developments, then assess their impact on Adult Social Care operations
- Write and edit clear policy information and guidance for internal teams
- Gather and coordinate feedback from operational staff on policy proposals
- Develop and support the coordination of policy documents aligned with departmental priorities
- Liaise with the Policy Unit and wider Strategic Development Team to ensure policies support frontline practice
Eligibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey complex information clearly
- Analytical mindset with capacity to think critically about wider departmental implications
- Competent with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- If currently employed, line manager agreement required (this is a fixed-term secondment opportunity)
- Must have right to work in the UK; sponsorship not available
